
Khwaja Fareed University Of Engineering & Information Technology
On April 22, 2014, the foundation stone of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology was laid on Abu Dhabi Road, Rahim Yar Khan. In order to support underprivileged students from Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh in pursuing education in engineering and technology, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, launched an initiative.
KFUEIT offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in the fields of engineering, management, basic sciences, and social sciences.
Scholarships and interest-free loans are provided to high achievers and financially disadvantaged students. A Scholarships Committee ensures the transparent distribution of these awards. The university offers the following scholarships to deserving and meritorious students: Need-based, Merit, Fareed, Pakistan Baitul Mal, MORA, IEP – SAC (Saudi Arabia) scholarships.
History:
On May 29, 2014, the Punjab Assembly passed The Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology Act, marking the commencement of the university’s legal operations. Initially, four classrooms were rented at the Government College of Technology.
On September 1, 2014, a batch of 200 students, equally divided among the four disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology, attended their first class at KFUEIT.
On September 2, 2015, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob became the first Vice Chancellor of the university. Shortly after its establishment, classes and administration were relocated to the university’s own campus on Abu Dhabi Road, where several buildings were renovated.
The Government of Punjab allocated 220 acres of land for the university, and the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, outlined a budget of Rs. 3,847 million to complete the project. This budget was approved by the Planning & Development Board, Punjab, for the establishment of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology in Rahim Yar Khan.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
KFUEIT is continuously working on developing its state-of-the-art infrastructure, including modern buildings and exceptional facilities. The university has designed an advanced ICT infrastructure to implement various information systems using open-source technologies at no cost.
The multidisciplinary library houses a wide range of resources, including books, periodicals, newspapers, manuscripts, films, maps, prints, documents, microforms, CDs, videotapes, DVDs, e-books, audiobooks, and databases.
The collection is organized using the Dewey Decimal Classification system. The university also provides hostel accommodations for students who live far from the campus or city. The hostels can house approximately 400 male and female students and include facilities such as a mess, TV room, study hall, mosque, indoor games hall, internet access, a tuck shop, and other essential utilities. Additionally, the university operates its own fleet of buses/coasters to provide comfortable transportation for students.

The primary mission of the university is to offer cutting-edge tertiary education to students from underprivileged areas of Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh, who are unable to pursue university-level education due to their rural backgrounds and limited resources.
