Ned University Of Engineering & Technology Karachi

The establishment of an Engineering University in Karachi, named “NED University of Engineering & Technology,” was made possible by a Legislative Act passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. Originally founded as NED Government College in 1922, the institution was created to provide comprehensive training and professional support to Civil Engineers working on the Sukkur Barrage Project, initiated by the British Government. The Act passed by the Provincial Assembly granted the institute a charter, elevating it to university status. As a result, NED University stands as one of the oldest and most prominent educational institutions in Pakistan. The university is named in honor of Nadir Shaw Edulijee Dinshaw, who was the patron, sponsor, and benefactor of the institute.
