Bolan Medical College in Quetta was established in 1972. The first batch of MBBS graduates was produced by the college in 1978. Since then, Bolan Medical College has graduated over three thousand MBBS doctors. In 1989/1990, the Dental Section of the college was introduced, initially admitting ten students annually for the BDS program. The intake was later increased to 25 students per year. Bolan Medical College is fully recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and is affiliated with the University of Balochistan for examination purposes. As a result of its inclusion in the World Directory of Medical Schools, graduates of Bolan Medical College are eligible to participate in recognition and postgraduate examinations in countries such as the USA, UK, and others.
Over time, the faculty at Bolan Medical College has grown stronger. Due to the enhanced faculty and improved training facilities, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) began granting accreditation to various clinical departments of Bolan Medical College and its affiliated teaching hospitals for postgraduate training leading to MCPS, DCPS, and FCPS Part-II. The fully accredited departments by CPSP include General Surgery, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Medicine, and ENT, while other departments and subspecialties have partial accreditation.
