PIEAS stands for the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, a public sector, research-focused university situated in the serene and picturesque countryside of Islamabad. PIEAS is a leading federal university that provides high-quality higher education in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, and formal sciences. While the university offers a wide range of programs, its primary emphasis is on the study and research of Science, Technology, and Engineering. PIEAS offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and short courses, all recognized by the HEC. The History of PIEAS dates back to 1967, when there was an exponential increase in the industrial activities of Pakistan. In response to the increased industrialization of Pakistan, the institute was founded as a Reactor School in affiliation with the Quaid-e-Azam University based in Islamabad. By the year 1976 the Institute became Centre of Nuclear Studies. The Institute attained the status of a full-fledge University registered with the name of Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences in the year 1997. The University is currently an independent, autonomous degree awarding body.

The well-designed, state-of-the-art campus of the PIEAS sprawls over 150 acres and is equipped with numerous facilities that foster the intellectual, physical and mental development of the students. The multi-faceted PIEAS, consists of 9 academic blocks, 8 workshops, production-plants for liquid nitrogen and oxygen, 30 laboratories, lecture halls and conference rooms with the facility of video conferencing. The campus house well-equipped resource centers, well-stocked libraries, spacious 400-seat auditorium and well-designed classrooms.

The computer center is equipped with latest hardware and software. The computer lab is accessible to the students 7 days a week. The students of PIEAS have the facility of accessing HEC Digital Library. Hostel service is also provided to the students of PIEAS. The hostel facilities are available for both male and female students. Most of the students prefer to stay in the hostel. There are a total of 8 hostel blocks. The hostels are comfortable and well-designed. The facilities of subsidized mess and canteen were available for the students were fresh and hygienic meals are served. Tuck-shops, photo copy shops, common rooms, prayer rooms and masjid can also be found on the campus.

Numerous scholarships, and financial aids are offered to the students. The financial aid is a way to make sure no deserving and needy student is deprived of the right to education.
