University Of Science and Technology Bannu (Ust Bannu)

The University of Science and Technology Bannu (UST Bannu) aims to bridge various disciplines and foster new partnerships while exploring innovative ways to enhance academic quality and research capabilities. Established as a public sector university under Provincial Assembly Act No. XIII, 2005 (Notification No: PA/NWFP/Legis:1/2005/28/16 dated Peshawar, 15/11/2005), UST Bannu is committed to providing high-quality education in fields such as Life Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Business Studies, and Humanities. Since its inception, UST Bannu has successfully pursued this mission. The university began its first academic year in September 2005, enrolling 200 students across various disciplines in the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) and the Institute of Management Sciences (IMS), following proper entry tests and interviews. Currently, the university offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, with plans to introduce Ph.D. programs in the future. The student population is expected to grow with the initiation of new faculties and higher enrollment rates at affiliated colleges in the region. UST Bannu is an autonomous institution governed by the Chancellor’s Committee until the Syndicate is formed. This Committee, headed by the Governor of NWFP, was established via ordinance in 2005 and consists of seven members. It serves as the major policymaking and controlling body of the university. The Committee is a think tank composed of education experts, religious scholars, business community representatives, and senior government officials. Its role is to bridge the gap between the university and the community/business world, which is essential for a dynamic institution focused on solid academic foundations.
