Institute Of Industrial Electronics Engineering IIEE Karachi

The Institute of Industrial Electronics & Engineering was founded in 1989 as a joint initiative between the Pakistani and Swiss governments. The Ministry of Science & Technology and the Pakistan Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (PCSIR) were tasked with the construction and development of this prestigious institute. While many universities in Pakistan offered electrical and electronic engineering courses, there was a significant need for an institution that provided a more practical, industry-focused approach to the field.

At a time when other countries experienced significant industrial revolutions and rapid development, Pakistan lagged behind in its industrial sector. The focus was primarily on agriculture, with little attention given to industrial growth. Recognizing the importance of industrial development, the Institute of Industrial & Electronic Engineering was established as Pakistan’s first, and Asia’s second, institution to offer a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering. The core mission of the institute was to drive industrial progress in Pakistan, positioning the country as a leading industrial nation.

Academic Programs Offered

The IIEE offers a four-year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) program in Industrial Electronics. The program is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge in circuit design, control systems, automation, and power electronics. It combines theoretical coursework with practical training, ensuring that students acquire the skills needed to work in industrial automation and electronic system design.
